Bouchard Family Park
The Legacy Fields at Bouchard Family Park represents a partnership between the Quaker Valley School District and the Quaker Valley Recreation Association to develop high-quality athletic fields for primary use by local school programs as well as QVRA programs serving our community.
QVSD has leased roughly 35 acres for 50 years to QVRA for $1.00 per year with the understanding that QVRA will raise the necessary funds to develop and maintain the facility as well as manage the property for the length of the lease. This represents an extension of the unique public/private partnership between the school district and the community similar to that of the Sewickley Public Library.
The site will support structured sports programs for the community including lacrosse, softball, baseball and soccer. There will be support services such as spectator seating, dugouts, pavilion shelters, playgrounds, walking paths, bathrooms, parking lots, a concession stand and a maintenance building. It will also provide numerous opportunities for children and adults to play and be active in a community setting.
The design of the site was meant to segue seamlessly with the natural environment. It has been contured into the hills with multiple levels and slopes with the plan to plant natural vegetation and trees in all non-field areas. The construction on the park began in September, 2009. Upon completion of the first phase, WPIAL softball and baseball will be playing at the site in Spring, 2011.
